A book on this subject, written by Chris A. Knobbe, MD, and Suzanne Alexander, M.Ed., is The Ancestral Diet Revolution. The subtitle, How Vegetable Oils and Processed Foods Destroy Our Health - and How to Recover!, is followed by a description: Prevent, Treat, and Often Reverse Most Chronic Diseases, Including Overweight, Obesity, Heart Disease, Cancers, Metabolic Syndrome, Diabetes, Alzheimer's, Macular Degeneration, Autoimmune Disease, Anxiety, Depression, and Much, Much More, with Natural Diets.

I get the message that seed oils are bad, but I love peanut butter. Does this have natural anti oxidants from the peanuts to make it an OK snack?

Expand full comment

Peanuts have lectins. And, when smashed, the oils are exposed to oxygen. Rancidity then becomes a factor.

And don't forget peanut butter can contain aflatoxins, which is a toxic mold.

Please just read the above book, The Ancestral Diet Revolution, copyright 2023. Another excellent book is by Georgia Ede, MD, a nutritionally and metabolically minded psychiatrist who wrote Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind: A Powerful Plan to Improve Mood, Overcome Anxiety, and Protect Memory for a Lifetime of Optimal Health. That latter book is copyright 2024. She had a lot of info, new to me, and her explanations are exceptionally clear. Her discussions about anti-nutrients in foods from plants are convincing. I no longer eat any foods from plants except some very low sugar fruits, such as limes and Meyer lemons and other fruits in season, certified USDA organic and also certified by the Real Organic Project. For me, in late December, that's usually the daily unfiltered homemade juice from 3 large Meyer lemons. I also supplement with non-GMO ascorbic acid and trace minerals because the ranch from which I buy has soil low in selenium. The major part of my diet is certified USDA organic and certified Real Organic Project (doubly certified) 100% pastured year round beef and lamb meat, organs, fat and bones. The high saturated fat diet is extremely important to prevent overeating of protein and carbs. I gave away lots of those books because they're good, and I recommend them. Both doctors have websites, and they're not selling anything except their books, refreshingly. Dr. Knobbe is an ophthalmologist. To any vegans and vegetarians who may object, I was a vegan and vegetarian, at times, and my mother was raised on a truck farm. Her father was a vegetarian so the family's only animal foods were eggs and milk. I know where vegans and vegetarians are coming from. The animals I eat were all raised in an extremely humane manner, living better than most present day industrialized humans. That's a fact, not a belief. Just read the books, visit the websites, and get involved with the Real Organic Project which exists because the USDA is corrupted by industrialized agriculture. I donate to the Real Organic Project.

So I assume you include avocado oil? Somewhere along the line I got the idea that it was one of the few veg oils ok to heat. Is that wrong?

If it is unsaturated, and avocado oil is unsaturated, I would NOT heat it.
