But my sister, a conventional eye surgeon VERY open to alternatives, tells me she has seen catastrophes in eyes from shingles. Hence, when I write for others to read, I have to consider many things.

Norton's research into the systemic effects of the high-oxalate content of popular vegan, antioxidant-rich diets. Neurogenic pain, visual problems, and skin manifestations are common, so I wonder if these symptoms in a viral infection might persist in the presence of an oxalate burden. Her book made an enormous difference for me and many others.
If you haven't tried already, topical silver, DMSO, and the combo are all worth a shot. Though the DMSO strength is best ramped carefully because of the irritation. I wonder how much PHN could be due to lingering infection.
One thing I have not looked into is how long natural immunity lasts after a bout of shingles. It's possible you might not need to consider a shot for another 10 years. I also have not looked into how vaccination works in people who already have PHN. If PHN is infection, that could make things better or worse.

1. Natural immunity is robust. You shouldn't be concerned about this again for the rest of your life.
2. There are no double blind placebo based studies showing us that this concoction even works.
3. The only claim that pharma can make is that the jab will cause the body to produce antibodies. You and I both know that antibodies are just a fraction of the tools that our imune system uses.

be careful some people are allergic to aloe vera . test it on some delicate skin ... ps my 85 year old had shingles on her back and was getting better after two days with aloe vera then a doctor convinced her to have a injection to cure shingles ... her shingles flared up and made her alergic to aloe vera and she had shingles severly for over a year then it subsided but not ever completly
My wife was able to get one shot of the shingrix and 4 months later came down with a mild case of shingles that lasted two weeks and disappeared. I had an ugly case of shingles fifty years ago that lasted eight weeks. My case broke out when my one-year-old son was about to have heart surgery.
