Transmissible Cancer in Fish!

I have an intellectually stimulating report for you today. Not directly related to humans, but it gives food for thought.

In a lake the straddles Vermont and Canada, a fish called brown bullhead catfish (Ameriurus nebulosus) have been observed to be getting a melanoma. But the cancer is occurring at an alarming rate, 23-37% as observed by anglers. How and why could fish be getting such a stunningly high rate of cancer, and especially the same cancer in all the affected fish, which cancer caused brown spots on their body’s surface?

Researchers looked into pollution and did not find an answer. So, they looked much deeper…… At the genetic make-up of the tumors.

They found something most rare but interesting. Genetic sampling of the tumors showed that the tumors were less related to the host and more related to other similar tumors on other fish. In other words, the cancers were spreading from one fish directly to the next fish. Genetic variants matched tumors on different fish, and not the fish that hosted the cancer. This can almost be seen as a parasitic attack.

This phenomenon has been seen in other species. It has been seen in dogs, Tasmanian devils, and some bivalve species. The cancer cells must be able to evade the immune system of the host fish in addition to jumping from one fish to another. Again, most rare, and not seen yet in humans, fortunately.

So, this made me think of what many past mentors suggested…. That cancer is a parasite. )ne Italian mentor swears cancer is a fungus. Well, if it is a parasite, I don’t think it is readily transmissible from human to human. That said, it is very interesting to note that two parasite drugs, ivermectin and fenbendazole are in wide but controversial use for cancer. I will be making a more detailed report on these drugs soon, so please stay tuned. The more I read about them, the more I like them. While our own patients have not seen significant results with these drugs used on their own, I am seeing a ton of anecdotal reports that should be considered by a patient challenged with cancer, and his/her provider.

Considering the testimony of corrupt lying Anthony Fauci, MD before the Senate today (taking the 5th amendment when he was already auto-penned pardoned by the corrupt Biden Regime, I would not be surprised if more vile people develop something similar as a bioweapon to use on humans, as apparently Fauci sanctioned for COVID. Imagine - a transmissible cancer suddenly dawns on us. This is the stuff of nightmares and horror movies. Fauci brought the concept home with COVID.
