This is one of the most interesting reports I’ve seen in a while. I can remember sitting in medical meetings many where experts came in to discuss the fledgling information known at the time about our gut microbiome. I found it interesting then, but over the years I have grown in awe at how important our tropical “rain forest” in our intestinal tract is to our health. I don’t believe we can say that we are separate beings from bacteria in our intestinal tract. They are truly part of us.
Researchers housed old and young mice together and permitted the groups to intermingle their bowel eliminations. Young mice were exposed to the microbiomes of the old, and vice versa. An amazing thing happened.
