People of Ecuador Fight Back and Win Important Victory against Big Corporate Interests
#82 2023 The Rowen Report
Dear Subscriber,
It is possible that people of the world are waking up. Here is a report that the people in Ecuador voted to ban oil drilling in one of the most important biodiversity preserves on the planet. This vote brought a lot of joy to me. I believe the Amazon must be protected for the sake of the planet. Here, the people voted to protect their environment, and indigenous peoples within the affected area, something that did not happen with our indigenous. And, I am sure there was tremendous corporate efforts to defeat this, but it was approved by a stunning 60% of the people.
I don’t have direct information from the country, but it is likely that the people chose to sacrifice financial promises from the oil industry to the country. The linked article says the oil companies championed the 1.2 billion that its efforts pumped into Ecuador’s coffers. But the people resisted.
I wonder what that might mean for an awakening here. Several years ago, my own Sonoma county voters rejected a ban on GMO agriculture. It should have won, but Big Chema and Big Agri pumped in tons of money to advertise lies about GMO and the detrimental effects a positive vote would have brought. I can tell you one thing a victory would have brought us – less exposure to Roundup, glyphosate. GMO seeds were developed and sold not for health reasons but for the plant to be resistant to glyphosate so that (then) Monsanto could push and sell more of the poison we all now are struggling with.
Our government is OWNED by corporate interests, and, in my opinion, ultimately controlled by a handful of malevolent men/women, who don’t need to be President when they are controlling both the President and the Congress. President’s come and go. Their controllers stay. Congressmen get reelected, often for life, with the help of corporate sponsors, even when brain dead.
California is a failed state due to a Statist (Progressive) government where our inherent and God given Rights have been subordinated to their agenda. Our elected representatives have admitted to me that they are controlled by corporate agricultural interests. Perhaps we might have a change at rolling back corporate control of government through the referendum process, which process has a strong history here.
Our elected Rulers represent the corporations. Perhaps by referendum, we can undo the corporate state before we walk into 1984???
To your Excellent Health,

NO GMO’s ARE OK, BUT OIL IS NECESSARY FOR THE COMMON MAN TO HAVE EVEN A CHANCE AT A BETTER LIFE! SO IF YOU ARE CELEBRATING THE PROTECTION OF THE AMAZON I CAN AGREE, BUT IF YOU ARE CELEBRATING THE DEMISE OF OIL I DISAGREE!
Algae is what makes "fossil fuel".... investment in farms that "grow oil" above ground (algae farms) can produce all the oil we need and in addition clean the polluted air... Having also been educated about Ecuador this is a monumental victory. Our Ecuadorian acquaintances are the ones that passed the law to give nature a place at the table when considering rules/laws that could harm nature is another monumental win for the people. The devastation that the oil companies have caused over the years in that country would make the hardest nosed conservative cry big tears. This is a good move and hopefully the oil companies won't take it to the corrupt international courts of law and get it reversed as they have in the past..... and don't get me started on GMO's
