Dear Subscriber,
Many patients and readers tell me that I am about 10 years ahead. In other words, wait 10 years and what I said in the past usually comes to pass. I predicted Vioxx years ahead of the killing scandal.
My long-term readers will have benefited from my reports in the past of my great concerns about fish oil. One of my beefs has been that the rancidity factor of fish oil supplements is out of control. Prof. Brian Peskin and I wrote of this in our book “PEO Solution” (Parent Essential Oils).
Marine oils are made for marine animals. The colder the water, the higher the polyunsaturated content. EPA and DHA are highly unsaturated and therefore highly vulnerable to oxidation (rancidity). They essentially will spoil in the presence of light and oxygen. The extracted oils are so vulnerable that, one scientist told me, they can become rancid on the way into your stomach. They will oxidize up to 200x faster than will olive oil (monounsaturated).
Here is a report proving me out. Many common fish oil supplements are rancid. Rancid oils are highly toxic and vascular damaging. So, you think you are protecting your body by taking fish oil but you might be significantly harming it. Also. Your mitochondria are literally blast furnaces. Their membranes are made of fatty acid containing molecules. If you force feed your body these vulnerable fatty acids, they can wind up in your mitochondria, where blast furnace conditions can oxidize them and age these important cell energizers. I DO NOT recommend marine oils except in rare circumstances when it can be proven that a deficiency of the longer chain more unsaturated omega 3 fatty acids are deficient.
A product I like is Yes EFA designed by my co-author Brian Peskin, MS. It can be obtained from a company called Your Essential Supplements (YES) by visiting www.yes-supplements.com or emailing client-care@yes-supplements.com. I believe you get a discount by mentioning this newsletter or using the coupon code: DRROWENEFAS10. Plant essential fatty acids are quite valuable in assisting circulation, diabetes challenges and even skin issues. They are far more resistant to oxidation than fish oils and are absolutely required for transport of life giving oxygen across cell membranes.
Marine oils are for marine animals in COLD water where there is limited sunlight and oxygen. We are in high sunshine and high oxygen. Marine oils, in my opinion are a prescription for early aging. Should we avoid eating fish such as sardines, anchovies?
What about Cod Liver Oil? It has a long history of established results. Rosita Cod Liver Oil is transported and stored at freezing temperatures AND you can taste it to determine it's freshness. Plant EFAs need to be converted in the body to the usable EPA and DHA and most people are not very good at this metabolically. These polyunsaturated oil supplements that you promote are just as susceptible to rancidity as the fish oils are.
