Dear Subscriber,
Everything in life is a two-edge sword. (Even personal relationships). Water can be toxic if you ingest too much. Author Jym Moon, PhD of “Iron – The Most Toxic Metal tells us that his research and information indicates iron excess “is responsible for more sickness and death in North America than any other single factor, including cigarette smoking.” Those are pretty strong words.
Iron is the classic example of a ‘little is necessary’ and ‘more than a little is toxic’. While iron is widely distributed in the body, it is tightly bound and sequestered, exactly as you would do with a poisonous snake you might be dealing with for its medical or scientific uses. Your body has a complex set of molecular factors to protect you from iron running amok and oxidizing (rusting) the innards of your cells. Menstruating women are the humans at most risk for low iron. Average menstrual blood loss is about 30 ml/month. This number will vary by the means of contraception, with IUDs inducing more blood loss, and oral contraceptives significantly reducing iron loss. And iron fortification of processed foods was instituted for this minority of society. In other words, place all at risk for the sake of a minority.
Iron has been implicated in some of the most concerning neurodegenerative diseases. The metal appears in the pathological plaques of Alzheimer’s disease. Parkinson’s brains
