From Lunacy on Global Warming, to a Common Sense Full or Partial Remedy, and to a March to War
#58 2024 The Rowen Report
Dear Subscriber,
This is a health, medical and environmental column. However, sometimes I get so riled up about current worldwide events that I consider creating a second Substack column to discuss common sense and “wisdom” as I see it in national and world affairs. It seems we have lost our way to Wokism, LBGTQ+++ whatever, wars, government handouts, government usurpation, and government lies.
Here’s a matter that fits into this column, however – global warming and trying to punish us and take more global control blaming us for their idiocy in the matter. Of course they will blame Big Oil. My local communist daily rag has called for punitive actions against Big Oil. But it is not Big Oil, but us that actually needs the product for our comfort that Big Oil brings, as we are still highly reliant on fossil fuels for our way of life. Our communist daily could not publish its rag without the energy and chemicals produced by Big Oil, and publishes its daily on paper from downed carbon recycling trees. Hmmm. I sense a double standard.
Let’s consider common sense in the matter. CO2 is rising, accepted fact. Is it a factor in global warming? Yes, I believe. Is global warming due to just human activity? Not sure. Mars is heating up, so that means we are in a warming solar cycle. In past epochs, CO2 went up AFTER the earth warmed, not before. (A fact omitted in Al Gore’s famous “Inconvenient Truth”). Is CO2 a pollutant? NO! It is absolutely required for photosynthesis and its availability is a rate limiting step in speed of growth of plants. More CO2, faster plant growth.
Now our leaders are doing everything in their power to gain more political power and control over us via this single issue, perhaps above all others. They want to tax us for our contribution to carbon output, while they fly private jets to their sinister/secret world control meetings.
But how does Mother earth deal with CO2? Simple, plants take it up.
And what have we humans done to assist this process? We have devastated it. Great Britian, especially England, was once totally covered in forests. A good review article tells us some sobering news:
Summary
Shortly after the end of the last great ice age – 10,000 years ago – 57% of the world’s habitable land was covered by forest. In the millennia since then a growing demand for agricultural land means we’ve lost one-third of global forests – an area twice the size of the United States.
Almost 20 Percent of the Amazon Rainforest Has Been Destroyed Since the 1970s
In just 50 years, almost 20 percent of the Amazon rainforest has been destroyed. Scientists warn that we’re dangerously close to the forest’s breaking point: 25 percent deforestation. At that point, the forest risks collapsing in on itself and transitioning to scrubby savannah.
How Much of the Amazon Rainforest Is Left?
Just over 80 percent of the rainforest coverage measured in the 1970s still remains. Of that, scientists caution that 38 percent suffers from some sort of degradation. Yet recently, much of the deforestation has been halted as a result of more protective environmental policies.
And perhaps worse, insects might be as responsible for global warming as humans. Termites emit lots of methane gas through their farts and their action has been sped up by our destruction of forests.Cutting forests leaves yummy chips for the termites to ingest and fart out tons of methane.
Folks, news reports rate San Francisco Bay, South Florida, New York City, in our own country, let alone all the low-lying areas of Bangladesh, ocean islands and more in the cross hairs. Government rulers are going insane about what to do with all the carbon we are emitting, but cannot connect the dots or have the plain old COMMON HORSE SENSE to support the planet to do it. We have impaired the recycling of CO2 while we emit more, rather than do all in our power to stop the massacre of CO2 natural recycling.
The Amazon is likely responsible for 15% of the production of oxygen on the planet, and we are permitting its destruction. With 20% gone in just 2 generations, we can estimate that 3% of oxygen recycling has been lost. Oxygen recycling is a direct result of plants sequestering carbon from CO2 and releasing O2. And, our corrupt governments have done little to restrain corporations from profiting from their creations of chemicals, toxins, synthetics that are choking the planet and life upon it.
It is sheer lunacy. Where is Common Sense? We can spend 300 B on a war that should have neverhappened, NEVER, except for the WAR profiteering EVIL mongers instilling fear in us all. Think of what those borrowed dollars (against our children’s futures) could be doing to save the planet for our progeny by reclaiming forests we have destroyed. (And again, think of how those RULING our nation are manipulating us into escalating the war by permitting American weapons to be used INSIDE Russia. How can that NOT be considered a direct escalating act of war?)
Israel, a relatively poor country at its founding, had its land and forests devastated by centuries of occupation and destruction. However, it did miracles with its arid land to reforest it:
Due to erosion, Israel lost eighty feet of topsoil. The Romans cut down the trees and took Israel's vines back to Italy. Mark Twain confirmed utter desolation in the region of Palestine. The Ottoman Empire caused the only remaining trees in the area to be cut down during the 1800s.
By the time Israel became independent in 1948, the JNF had planted about 4.5 million trees on the country's rocky hillsides. Today over 200 million trees in forests and woodlands covering some 300,000 acres provide Israelis with a wide range of opportunities for outdoor recreation and appreciation of nature.
This regenerates topsoil, enriches the devastated land, and recycles CO2.
Why is this not a priority for Western countries instead of fostering a potential world war? Where is the common sense?
Again, I have considered an occasional separate free Substack to offer some common sense for us peons to consider for the political arena. We don’t have any such common sense with bought and paid for politicians who go into Congress as middle class and leave as multi, multi-millionaires, as in the case of Nancy Pelosi. We have not seen a statesman (one who puts the interests of the People ahead of personal, partisan or pecuniary interests) in office for many generations. RFK, Jr,. may be as close as we have come for scores of years.
No one is calling RFK a Hitler, unlike the horrible references to another candidate, but the corrupt press will not give him (RFK) the time of day, and our seemingly senile President will not give him Secret Service protection. Hmmm.
We allegedly have 2 parties, but the only difference is the rate of the increase in the temperature (loss of our freedoms) “they” are boiling us in.
We are told global warming due to man-made CO2 is the greatest crisis threatening our survival. Children are terrified. So, why not restore CO2 recycling as a first and easy step? Follow the money, political, and power trail.
I close with this extremely concerning little tidbit which you might not know yet. Germany is already preparing for military conscription. Did you know that Congress is moving towards doing the same here? Yes, there is a bill in Congress to register all males “While there has been a Selective Service program in effect for decades, it has long previously only been voluntary, but this new amendment will make registration automatic. The merely 'voluntary' system had been in effect since 1980 - but critics have said that leaving it up for young men to decide for themselves whether to register has resulted in a weak and ineffective system with not enough numbers.”
What do they know, or expect, from their follies in the shooting war with Russia that we are not being told? If you have interest in me creating a second Substack column where we all can discuss current events with Common Sense, please let me know. Feel free to comment here.
I don’t want to dilute The Rowen Report (health, environment, and similar issues) with other aspects of hot issues of the day. But I am seeing absolute lunacy across the board that is risking oblivion for us economically and with war.
To Your Excellent Health, and to Our Survival,

PS This page continues to grow. Thank you for your support and sharing.
Dr Rowen, I appreciate how you have mixed health issues along with geopolitical issues. In many ways they do go hand in hand. I would enjoy a new Substack and also fine with keeping the path we currently are on. For the sake of time and efficiency, I think it may be better to keep on just one stack. Possibly indicate in the title of the post if it pertains predominantly to health or geopolitics so that followers that prefer one or the other can decide at that point to invest the time in reading. I’m good with whatever decision you make. Thank you for your contributions to what makes up a portion of my “news”. Bobby 24!
Regarding your thoughts about a possible separate substack for discussion of current events with common sense, have you time and energy to devote to a 2nd substack? 1:20 AM Pacific time is when your latest substack email appeared to me in Sacramento. I'm retired, but you're not. Surely you must have an obligation to your colleagues in practice with you in your clinic and beyond to be well-rested and in good health. You asked, so my opinion is for you to stick to what you do best: health. Leave politics, war, conscription and other such subjects to those who specialize in those fields. You can always refer your readers to someone's post when appropriate and beneficial for us to know. Thank you for caring, and please care for your health so you'll be maximally able to help us be healthy.
